Melvine Duanne (Buddy) Bates, 39, resident of Brown, Rt. 1, Wallace, died at 3:25 a.m. Sunday, March 9, 1975, in a Clarksburg hospital. He was born Nov. 26, 1935, at Folsom, son of the late Glen R. Bates and Mrs. Opal Hayhurst Bates who survives. Also surviving are his wife Janet Lee Bates; 2 sons, Gary Bates and Rodney Allen Bates; 2 brothers, Paul Bates and Dorsey Bates, both of Folsom; 3 sisters, Mrs. J.B. (Jean) Haught, Mrs Claude (Gracelea) Utt, both of Reeder; Mrs. Lucille Roberts of Chester, W.Va. Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Monday and funeral services at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m.Tuesday. Rev Joseph Shipley of Clarksburg officiating. Graveside services by St. John's Masonic Lodge 24 of Shinnston. Burial in the IOOF Cemetery at Brown.
