CHESTER - Services will be held Sunday for Zella G. Ash, 80, of Louisiana Avenue, formerly of Ashley, W. Va., died in East Liverpool Monday, October 16, 2000.
She was born in Franks Run, W. Va., Oct. 12, 1920, a daughter of the late Artie and Ollie Smith Bates.
She retired as a cup finisher from the former Taylor, Smith and Taylor Pottery in Chester. She was a member of the Center Point Christian Church in Center Point, W. Va., where she taught Vacation Bible School. She attended Franks Run School and was a member of the Doddridge County Homemakers and Tyler County Grange.
Her husband, C. Brooks Ash, died in 1983. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Merle Conley, and a half brother, Edwin Bates.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Doris Dudgeon, with who she resided in Chester; two half sisters, Ellen Sue Statler of New Manchester and Mary Lou Hall of East Liverpool; a granddaughter, Mrs. Alan (Dena) Woodward of Beaver Dam, Va.; a grandson, Dale Dudgeon and his wife Tammy of Bolivar, Pa.; and three great granddaughters, Chloe Woodward, and Marah and Tessa Dudgeon.
The Rev. Thomas Bogardus of Chester First Christian Church will conduct the services at 2 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow a committal service Monday at Center Point Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight and from noon....
