Funeral Home Obituary of Elaine Allen
Elaine E. (Batson) Allen, Lawton, PA passed away on June 25, 2015 at home with her loving family by her side. Elaine was born in Netcong, NJ on April 20, 1933 to Elsie Baxter Batson and Ernest Batson, and raised in New Jersey. She married her high school sweet heart Lenny Allen March 13, 1954 and moved to Pennsylvania in 1970. She was predeceased by him on October 12, 2013. Throughout her life, she farmed with her husband in New Jersey, labored in a pocket book factory, worked as a telephone operator and also worked as an aide in a nursing home. She finally retired in 1995 as a kitchen aide from Endless Mountains Health Systems.
For many years, she was a den mother for the Boy Scouts and was also avidly involved with the Girl Scouts. Elaine delivered Meals on Wheels for numerous years. If a friend needed a ride to the grocery store or a doctor’s appointment, Elaine was there to help. She loved to do word puzzle books, jig saw puzzles, playing bingo, and did as often as she could. She also enjoyed travelling to visit relatives, going to NASCAR races, visiting the Grand Ole Opry, camping with family & listening to country music. She always enjoyed a good game of scrabble with her good friend Betty Pisaneschi. She dearly loved her family and spending time with them.
Elaine is survived by her, children: Jim Allen (Kelly) of Lawton, PA, Patty Allen (Gary Berumen) of Wheatridge, Co., and Brenda Allen (Marshall Thompson), Lawton, Pa., grandchildren, Cortney Allen Tyler (Mike), Dan Allen (Michelle) both from Lawton, Pa., Leeann Brookhouser (Paul), Bacliff, Texas, Kelsi Berumen and Nikki Berumen, Wheatridge, Co., Robert Allen-Sapp (Kristi), Bayard, NE and Devyn Allen-Sapp, Denver, Co., great-grandchildren: Matthew and Kevin Tyler, MaKayla Allen, Lawton, Pa., Andrew Luna of Bacliff, Texas, Haylee Smith, Alyssa and Brooklyn Allen-Sapp all of Bayard, NE, sister , Roberta "Rusty" Pascoe of Hackettstown, NJ, brother & his special friend, Malcolm Batson & Liz Lynch, Norwich, NY, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & her canine fur baby, Tramp. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Joseph Semonski & Eddie Pascoe. A very special thanks to her wonderful caregivers, Sue Kelley, Julie Hibbard-Garner, Stevi Peck, Ranee Bennett & Marshall Thompson for taking great care of Elaine and making it possible for her to spend the end of her life at home where she loved to be. Services: 2 PM Monday, June 29 at the Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc., Montrose, PA.
Visitation: 6-8 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Interment: Rush Center Cemetery immediately following.
