He was the son of the late Edgar Thomas Batson, Sr. and Ola Cobb Batson. He was also predeceased by his brother, E.T. Batson Jr.; and sister, Betty Dees. Mr. Batson graduated from Burgaw High School and attended UNC-Chapel Hill. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. From 1960 to 1972, Mr. Batson served as a Pender County Commissioner. He has served as an elder at Burgaw Presbyterian Church and Hopewell Presbyterian Church where he was currently a member. He was also a member of King Solomon Lodge No. 138 A. F. A. M. Mr. Batson died peacefully at his home at age 78.
