Beatrice was born at home in Duplin County on July 24, 1929 to the late Willie and Bertha Lanier Batts. She was a loyal wife, loving and accepting mother, doting grandmother, caring daughter and sister, and a second mother to many nieces and nephews. Bea always made everyone feel welcome and comfortable in her home in Goldsboro or Emerald Isle, embodying that good old Southern hospitality and charm. She brought joy to many people with her home-cooked meals and innate ability to make everyone feel special.
Bea owned and operated Bea's Beauty Shop for 20 years. She loved to travel with John, visiting all 50 states and 34 countries. Bea had a great faith and was an active and loyal member of St. Luke United Methodist Church for 60 years. She loved quilting and made well over 100 quilts for family and even more as a member of St. Luke Quilters for more than 20 years. Her lovingly stitched quilts adorn many homes and represent her legacy of selfless devotions to those she loved.
