Mamie was a daughter of Charles Albert Baumgardner and Frances A. Newman. She married George Loren Burks and two children were born to this union; Glenna and Edgar. Mamie is believe to have died from TB and she is buried in an unmarked grave in Barboursville Cemetery. Location of her grave may be to the east of Hal Baumgardner. There are 5 or 6 adult size graves in a row in the area.

A sad death was that of Mrs. Mamie Baumgardner Burks, wife of George Burks, which occurred at her home in Barboursville yesterday evening. Mrs. Burks was a very young woman, being about twenty-one years of age. Despite this fact she had been married for several years and leaves two young children, one two years old and the other but three weeks old. She will be buried tomorrow morning at the Barboursville cemetery.
