Elwood Jennings Bausell, age 64, of Lebanon, Virginia passed away Saturday afternoon, December 28, 1985 in a Lebanon, Virginia hospital following a short illness. Born in Lebanon, Virginia, he was the son of Mrs. Eliza Jane Bausell of Lebanon and of the late James Taylor Bausell. He was a Master Printer last employed by the Virginia Gazette in Williamsburg, Virginia. He was the founder of the Clinch Valley Times in St. Paul, Virginia and was formerly employed by The Lebanon News and the Honaker Herald. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Army and was a member of Walnut Hills Baptist Church in Williamsburg. Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Mrs. Peggy T. Bausell; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Ryan of Williamsburg and Ms. Jill Bausell of Lebanon; one son, Kemper Jennings Bausell of Grundy, Virginia; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Worley of Bluefield, West Virginia and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hale of Tazewell, Virginia; five grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 PM Monday in the Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Murphy Miller, the Rev. Jim Pollock and the Rev. Virgil Hale officiating. Interment followed in the Clark Cemetery in Honaker. Pallbearers were Tom Hale, Jerry Hale, Bill Rhea, Billy Joe Rhea, Bob Whited, Frank Finney, Bill McFarlane, J. T. Bailey and Jeff Chalfa. Honorary pallbearers were employees of the Virginia Gazette. Lebanon Funeral Home was in charge.
