P.4: "5th day of July 1837 James Bayley a resident of the town of Newbury aged 69 years the 17 day of August last past...."[e.g. b. Aug 17 1836]
P.9: "I Stephen Powers of Newbury age 75 do hereby depose...said James was a Soldier and did duty in a company of militia stationed at the fort in Said Newbury Commanded by Captain Frye Bayley in Colonel Peter Olcott's Regiment for a term of two years and upwards...as early as the summer season of 1781 and continued to do duty as a soldier...until the fall of the year 1784...I served in said Company with said James...."
