Alfred John Baylies, retired rail foreman

Funeral services for Alfred John Baylies are scheduled for noon Monday at the Saul Memorial Home, 1740 Greenwood Avenue.

Mr. Baylies, 85, of 8 DeLotto Drive in Mercerville, died Thursday at the Mercer Care Center. Ben Ashler Lodge, F&AM will hold services at 8 p.m.. Contributions may be made to the Philadelphia Unit of the Shriners Hospital for Cripples Children.

Mr. Baylies was born in Philadelphia and lived in Mount Holly for many years before moving to Trenton. He was a retired foreman with the Penn Central railroad.

He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Signalmen and served as past president and secretary.
He was a member of the Signalmen's Political League, Railroad Relief and the Railroad Retirement Board.

He was a 60-year member of both Ashler Lodge and Good Intent Fire Company of Mount Holly and a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Trenton; the Crescent Temple Shrine, the Patriotic Order, Sons of Amrica, and the Junior Order of United American Mechanics.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Reese Baylies; one daughter, Miss Joan Baylies, of New York City, and several nieces and nephews.
