Clarence C. Beatham, 84, of 45 Albert St. died suddenly Monday evening while attending a meeting at the Drop in Center, East Albert Street. Born in Kingman, Maine he was a son of the late Orrin and Phoebe (Kimball) Beatham. He lived in New Hartford for many years before moving to Torrington several years ago. he was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, retiring in 1959. Mr. Beatham was a veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 28 of New Hartford where he served as service of ficer for many years. He was a member of North Congregational Church in new Hartford. he was a past patron of Mayflower Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, of New Hartford; a past master of Amos Beecher Lodge, AF & AM, of New Hartford; and a past high priest of Columbia Chapter, RAM of Collinsville. He served the Grand Lodge of Connecticut as associate grand marshal and was a member of the Articifer Degree Team of Thomaston. Mr. Beatham is survived by his wife, Vera (Morris) Beatham of Torrington; three sons, Leland Beatham of Kentucky, Eugene Beatham of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Owen Beatham of Torrington; five daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Robinson of Newburg, Maine, Mrs. Avis Hanning of Plantsville, Mrs. Clarice Babcock of Brewer, Maine, Mrs. Donna Burdick of New Hartford, and Mrs. Bernice Nanni of Barhamsted, one brother, Erni Beatham of Linfield, Mass.; 20 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at North Congregational Church in New Hartford. Burial will be in Village Cemetery, New Hartford.
