PROCTOR - Ellen Mary (Beauregard) Baker, 85, of Proctor, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, September 8, 2012, surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter in West Rutland.

She was born in Brandon, August 6, 1927, the daughter of Joseph and Lucy (Forsha) Beauregard.

Ellen was a graduate of Brandon High School, class of 1945, and attended Rutland Business College.

She married the love of her life, Reginald C. Baker, on July 25, 1946. They celebrated 57 years of that cherished love.

She was a member of St. Dominic's Church, a lifetime member of Catholic Daughters, the Court St. Rose.

Ellen was employed at various jobs throughout her life. She was an Avon lady and a health care provider, but her main emphasis was dedicated to caring for her large family. In addition to taking care of her family, she also was active in their lives by being a den mother, teaching CCD, assisting with 4-H and Girl Scouts.

She enjoyed gardening, baking and traveling. She also had a lifelong love of animals except for the occasional unexpected critter that was brought in.

Surviving are five daughters and five sons, Ann B. Rossi of South Glens Falls, N.Y., Mary B. Harder and her husband Robert of Hudson Falls, N.Y., Regina C. Cram and her husband Benjamin of Hydeville, Jayne T. Nesto and her husband Gerard of Essex Junction, Kathryn B. Fredette and her husband Richard of West Rutland, Patrick F. Baker of Proctor, Daniel C. Baker and his wife Anita of West Rutland, Joseph A. Baker and his wife Diane of West Rutland, Richard W. Baker and his wife Karen of Carrollton, Ga., and Jonathan M. Baker and his wife Rose of Manchester, N.H.; and 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband in July 2003 and by three brothers, Joseph, Theodore and Thomas Beauregard, all of Brandon.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 13, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Dominic's Church in Proctor with a reception immediately following.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. in Brandon.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Contributions may be made to St. Dominic's Church in Proctor, or PACE Vermont activity program in Rutland.
