She was born in 1931 the daughter of coal miner Allan Bedford and Clara Sutherland in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia.
At three years old Edna lost her mother who died giving birth to a brother who would not survive. When Edna was 16 her little sister Christine died of rheumatic fever. Edna left home shortly after to make a life in Montreal.
Rodolphe Albert and Edna Bedford met in 1952 and made their lives in Levack where they raised six children together.
She loved being a mom. She had a natural connection with kids.
Her home was always filled with the sounds of children playing. Every neighbourhood kid was welcome.

In 1971, this family suffered an irrevocable loss when her oldest child and only son, Rudy was killed in a motorcycle accident. He was eighteen.
Edna lost her second Rudy in July of 2014. Dad was 84.
