Joseph H. Bedinger, s/o Mary (Sanders) and Christopher Bedinger (Revolutionary War Veteran, 1757-1823), emigrated from New Jersey about 1810, living, according to the Personal Property Tax Lists, in Frederick and Shenandoah counties. He and wife, Margaret (Schindel/Shingle), married in Shenandoah County in 1812 and made several land purchases in Hardy County, beginning in 1839, including that of the graveyard. They had children: John, Mary, Daniel, Jane and Joseph. In 1866, Margaret died and two years later, Henry married Susan E. Chrisman, probable d/o Sarah (Chrisman) Stewart. They had two sons, Henry Lot and Elbert Tilden. "Be not confirmed to this world," reads his memorial.
