She spent her early childhood in Washington State, returning to Missouri in 1926. Helen and her family attended the New Hope Baptist Church where she became a Christian and joined the church. She was very active in church as long as her health permitted, serving as teacher, song leader, Sunday school director and served as church treasurer for thirty two years. She loved her family, friends and was a great quilter and a wonderful cook.
On July 16, 1938, she was united in marriage to Sydney A. Barr Jr., and to this union two daughters were born. She was preceded in death by her husband Sydney, on November 3, 1986, and one daughter, Barbara Wethers.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly of the home; one uncle, Othel Jones; two step grandchildren, Beverly Hughes and her husband Mike, Barry Wethers and his wife Debbie. Three step great grandchildren, Kristen and Austin Kulhawick, and Taylor Wethers; also nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.
Helen was also preceded in death by her parents, a son in law, Henry "Hub" Wethers HI and a brother, Dale Bee.
