ANCHOR — Rosalena A. Ashley, 81, of rural Anchor, died at 4:20 a.m. yesterday Dec. 23, 1985) at the Gibson Community Hospital Annex, where she had lived for the last 10 years.
Her funeral was held at St. John's Lutheran Church near Anchor, the Rev. Melvin C. Blobaum officiating.
She was born Nov. 4, 1904, at Anchor Township, a daughter of William and Henrietta Simpsen Beecher.
She married Clyde J. Ashley on June 6, 1929, at Anchor. He survives. Also surviving are two sons, Norman, Sibley, and Wesley, Gibson City; a daughter, Sherilyn Bathgate, Agoura Hills, Calif.; a sister. Florence Painter, Anchor; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
Mrs. Ashley was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was a former Sunday school teacher and organist at the church. She also was past president of the Dorcas Society of the church.
She was a graduate of Sherwood School of Music, Chicago, and Brown Business College, Bloomington. She taught music in Anchor, Sibley and the Gibson City area for many years.
Mrs. Ashley was a former member of the Gibson Community Hospital Auxiliary. Gibson City Woman's Club and Burr Oak Home Bureau. She also was former chairman of the Sibley PTA, had served on the Ford County PTA board and was former secretary of the District 6 PTA.
