Funeral services were held Wednesday (May 25, 1960) at the home of Fred Beggs, 14 Lawrence Ave. Potsdam for his mother, Mrs. Bertha Mae Beggs, 83, Fort Jackson died 5/23/1960 in the Potsdam Hospital. Mrs. Beggs is survived by two sons, Fred of Potsdam and Warren of West Chazy; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was born Apr. 27, 1877 in Winthrop, a daughter of Joseph and Mary Ann Salls Gooshaw. She was educated in Winthrop schools and on May 12, 1895 married the late James Beggs in Nicholville. The couple lived in Lawrenceville following their marriage. He died Apr. 14, 1949.
Burial was made in the Hopkinton-Fort Jackson cemetery.
