Mrs. Augusta Awe, for 53 years a resident of Hampshire and vicinity and one of the oldest citizens in this community passed away last Wednesday night, March 4th, at 11:20 o'clock, in her ninety-second year.
Mrs. Awe was born in Falkinhagen, Germany and came to the United States in 1882. She has been a resident of this community since coming to this country.
Mrs. Awe is survived by her husband, Charles Awe; five sons, John of Elgin, Charles, Jr., and Marcus of Hampshire, Louis and William of Chicago; three daughters, Mrs. Lena Bowman, of Elgin, Mrs. Olive Carlson of Hampshire, and Mrs. Elizabeth Choitz, of Chicago; 30 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. A doughter, Mrs. Bertha Carlson, preceded her in death.
Funeral Services for the late Mrs. Charles Awe, Sr. were held at the home at one thirty o'clock and from the Lutheran church at two with the Rev. W. Schmidtke officiating.
Pall-bearers were six grandsons, Alfred, Elmer, Raymond, and Harold Awe, Joseph Carlson and Alvin Bowman.
