Hecla - The funeral for Linda Sue Bauer, 55, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Hecla, with Fr. DeWayne Kayser, celebrant. Burial will be in the Britton Cemetery under the direction of the Price Funeral Chapel. Linda died Friday, July 7, at Avera-St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen. Linda Sue Behnke was born Jan. 3, 1951, to Mervin and Marjorie (Stevens) Behnke at Britton, S.D. She grew up there, and attended Britton schools, graduating from Britton High School in 1969. She married Robert Bauer on June 29, 1970. They made their home in the Britton area until the spring 1979 when they moved to Houghton, S.D. They moved to Hecla in 1989 and they have lived there since that time. Linda spent most of her time as a homemaker and attending many of the activities her children were involved in. She worked for the Marshall Manor in Britton; as an EMT for the Marshall County Ambulance Service; The Hunters, Britton; Sheldahls of Britton; the Houghton CafŽ; Rosie's Bar of Hecla; and Four Seasons, Britton. In addition to those jobs, Linda also did a lot of childcare and home care for many families in the area. She loved being around people and helping people. Linda was an 18-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Hecla. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Hecla, and also attended services at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church of Hecla. In her final hours, she was affirmed in the Catholic Faith. Linda is survived by her husband, Robert D. Bauer, Hecla; four children: Carol Kristofferson of Rush City, Minn.; Michael (Michelle) Bauer of Bemidji, Minn.; Elise Bauer of Ferney, S.D.; Melissa Bauer of Aberdeen, S.D.; 11 grandchildren; her mother, Marjorie Behnke of Britton; and a brother, Kevin (Leann) Behnke of Watertown, S.D. She was preceded in death by her father, Mervin Behnke, and an infant brother, Steven Behnke.
