Angland, Caroline

Caroline Louise Angland (nee Behrens) was a deeply devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a spirited and practical woman who offered herself openly and honestly to everyone she loved and cared for. She will be deeply missed by those of us blessed to have been touched by her presence.

Caro passed away peacefully in her sleep in Alexandria, MN on June 20, 2012 at the age of 89 years 8 months and 28 days. She had been in declining health for several years and was looking forward to meeting her savior. She remained engaging and clear minded until the very end.

Caro was born September 22, 1922 in Graceville, MN. She was baptized into the Christian faith on October 15, 1922 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church near Johnson, MN where she was raised on her parents' farm. In the spring of 1936, she was confirmed into membership of Trinity church, and there she attended parochial school. In 1940, she graduated from high school at Chokio, MN, where she met her future husband.

On October 1, 1945 she was united in holy matrimony with Dennis Warren (Jack) Angland. After Jack's service in WWII, the couple settled in suburban Minneapolis and raised six children. They were active members of Peace Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale. On Jack's retirement in 1981 they moved to Miltona, MN with young son Clair and together enjoyed rural living. During this time they were members of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. After Jack passed away on October 31, 1989, Caro moved to Alexandria, MN where she attended Zion Lutheran Church.

Preceding her in death are her husband Jack, granddaughter Kari Louise Nittler, and parents Detlef Julius Behrens and Anna Helen Louise Behrens.

Surviving are children Dennis Warren (Barbara) of Alexandria, MN, Annette Louise Flaig (Thomas) of Robbinsdale, MN, Thomas Ray of Nashville TN, Sheila Marie Bergman (Mervyn) of Prairie Farm, WI, Barbara Diane Wood (Jay) of Orono, MN, and Clair Allen (Cindy) of Alexandria, MN; eleven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Reverend David Hinz and Reverend William Moeller officiated. Kristi Wussow provided music. Interment followed in Mount Calvary Cemetery at Miltona, MN. Casket bearers included Andrew Nittler, Dennis Angland, III, Christopher Angland, Jessica Olson, Elizabeth Flaig, Michael Angland, Matthew Wood, Michael Wood, Carter Angland, Kayleigh Wood and Cooper Angland.
