She was born Dec. 17, 1912, in Canton, the daughter of Ralph and Hilda Enander Bell. She married Louie L. Adams Jr. in 1930.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Joan.
She is survived by a son, Louie Adams III (wife, Judy) of Springfield; a daughter, Marilou Grissom of Pocahontas, Ark.; five grandchildren, Robert Baxter (wife, Beth) of Roscoe, Cynthia Pond (husband, John) of Caledonia; Elisabeth Adams, Aletha Jerome and Jonathan Adams; five great-grandchildren, Chloe and Brenna Baxter, Nathan and Matthew Jerome, and Willough Adams; two sisters, Pauline Griswold of Plymouth and Ann Hedgecock of Lakeview, Ark.
She was a member of the Springfield Civic Garden Club, life member of Lincoln Memorial Garden, former member of the American Daffodil Society and the Illinois Native Plant Society. She had taught Sunday school for many years and was active in Vacation Bible Schools. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of services at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2009, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home, with Dr. Lonnie Lee officiating. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday July 20, 2009, in Roselawn Memorial Park.
