Nellie Clark, Dies Here This Morning; Funeral Thursday
Mrs. Nellie Clark, 79, residence of Kankakee for many years, died early this morning (28 Apr 1942) at her home 367 S. West Avenue, following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the Rehr funeral home with burial in the Beaver Creek Cemetery, west of Papineau. Friends may call at Rehr's Wednesday afternoon and evening and before the funeral.
Born 2 Jul 1863 in Papineau, the daughter of Franklin and Sylvia Benjamin, she was married to Horace J. Clark on January or December 31, 1878 in Waldron, Illinois (present day Aroma Park). They divorced in 1893. He died several years ago.
Surviving are a son, Sylvester "Toots" Clark, and grandsons Arthur Jones, who after living with his grandmother in 1930 changed his name to Arthur Clark, Willard "Frog" Laroche and Jack Hess.
She was preceded in death by a son, Arthur Clark on December 7, 1923, and a daughter, Gertrude "Gertie" Mary Clark on March 9, 1928.
