"Lt Jack F. Benjamin - Mrs. Eugene R. Borthwick, 305 New Scotland Ave., has been notified of the death of her son, who has been missing since Feb. 11 in the South Pacific. A letter from a fellow officer informed Mrs. Borthwick her son was aboard a troop transport which was torpedoed en route to a Pacific replacement center. Former instructor with the 78th Lightning Division at Camp Butner, N. C, the lieutenant was assigned when he left the country in November for combat service. Graduated from Milne School, he attended State College for Teachers, and prior to induction was employed at the Paine Webber Company.
