Betty M. (Lemke) Bennett

Betty M. Lemke Bennett, age 87, of Newark, DE went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 25, 2011. Mrs. Bennett attended Kingston High School and worked for McNelis Hallmark at Chestnut Hill Crossing for 12 years until her retirement.

Betty is survived by her son, David L. Bennett; niece, Sheri Sparco and husband Joe and children Caitlin and Joey; nephew, Louis Lemke, Jr. and wife Brenda and their daughter Lauren; niece Debbie Lemke and her son James Teel Jr.; daughter-in-law, Judith Bennett and her children Don and Robin; 2 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and special friend, Barbara Szczesniak. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald E. Bennett; parents, Louis C. and Alice Evans Lemke; brother, Louis W. Lemke and sister-in-law Janet M. Lemke.

The family would like to thank two exceptional nurses, Martha and Michelle; Caroline Bodine; and a longtime friend of the family who helped her to medical appointments and always took her to lunch, Paul Taylor; the staff at Christiana Hospital, especially Dr. William Dahms, Dr. Erin Meyer, and Dr. Ramano; and the staff at Regency Healthcare for all of their kindness and help. God bless them all.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, July 1, in Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702 from 6-8 pm and again on Saturday, July 2, from 9-10 am followed by a service in celebration of Betty's life at 10 am. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Port Penn.
