Mrs. Jacqulyn Bennett Baker, 67, beloved wife, mother and sister, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 after a brief illness.

Jackie was born in Oakdale, La. and moved to Palatka before her first birthday. She graduated from Palatka High School in 1965 and attended St. Johns River Community College. Jackie moved to the Augusta area in 1998 with her husband, Dr. Philip Baker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred J. and Clyde F. Bennett and her sister Judith Bennett Maltby.

Her family includes her husband, Dr. Philip Baker, her beloved son, Brett Matthew Hipsley, sister, Diana Bennett Duva and brother-in-law, Anthony W. Duva, brother, the Rev. William M. Bennett and sister-in-law, Molly Bennett, brother-in-law, Dr. Joe Maltby, sister-in-law, Barbara Schneider and mother-in-law, Margaret Baker, nephews, Brian J. Duva (and his wife Ingrid), A. Tysen Duva (and his wife Julie) and Forrest Richardson (and his wife Kara), nieces, Melissa Maltby D’Orazio (and her husband Dan), and Jenifer Bennett Scariano (and her husband George), grand-nephews, Andrew Bennett Duva, Tysen Jacob Duva, Gavin Andrew Duva, Zachary Savell, Alex Richardson, Zachary Scariano, Evan Scariano and grand-nieces, Elena Cate Duva, Caroline Torie Duva, Emma Savell and Laney Richardson.

Jackie was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, as well as the chapter advisor to the Gamma Omicron chapter at University of Florida. As a realtor, Jackie served on a number of GAAR Committees and won several GAAR Awards. She also received numerous awards from Prudential, including Honor Society, Leading Edge Society, President’s Circle- Copper, Silver and Gold, Silver Award for the Million Dollar Circle, and Golden Achievement Award. She also earned Sales of the Month and Listings of the Month Awards during her career in real estate.

A graveside service will be held at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Palatka on Wednesday, April 30 at 11 a.m. with Jackie’s brother, the Rev. William M. Bennett presiding. Following the service, there will be a gathering so that the family and friends have an opportunity to share memories of Jackie and her life. Arrangements for the gathering are to be announced.
