Kirby James Bentsen, born December 5, 1952 to Ted and Janis (Bushey) Bentsen in McAllen, TX, entered eternal rest on July 9, 1999 at the age of 46. A devoted and loving husband and father, Mr. Bentsen was a member of the First Baptist Church in Houston, TX. Raised in McAllen, TX, he earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Texas, later moving to Houston, where he had resided for the past 25 years. Kirby had attained a Master Class ranking in T.A.P.A. as well as having achieved National Champion (Class A) in sporting clays. He cherished the comradery as well as the competitive spirit of the sport. Kirby was elected American Businesswomen's Boss of the Year. Mr. Bentsen was always charitable and generous to all.

Left to celebrate his life are his loving wife, Roxann S. Bentsen of Kingwood, TX; mother, Janis Bentsen of McAllen, TX; son, Barret Christian Bentsen, age six; sisters, Marsha Bentsen Jackson of Houston, TX and Shelley K. Bentsen of San Antonio, TX; brother, Guy Curtis Bentsen of Huntsville, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Friends may call after 12:00 noon, Sunday, July 11, 1999 at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North, where the family will be present for visitation from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 12, 1999 in the Chapel of Kingwood Funeral Home with Dr. Don R. Benton officiating. Interment will be Wednesday, July 14, in Roselawn Cemetery, McAllen, TX. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Salvation Army at 1717 Congress, Houston, TX 77002.
