ALBERT BERARDINO, 86, of Port Monmouth, MIDDLETOWN, died Sunday, April 13, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in South Ozone Park, Long Island, he lived in Belford before moving to Port Monmouth 40 years ago. He was an auto mechanic for 45 years for Hughes Auto Service, Port Monmouth and he worked for Ocean Landscaping, Tinton Falls for 10 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Berardino was an avid salt and fresh water fisherman and an avid hunter. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.

He was predeceased by a son, Richard, in 1985. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Virginia Merkel Berardino; a daughter and her husband, Patricia and Brendan Rochford of Tinton Falls; his grandchildren, Annette and Larry Lozito, Lisa Berardino and Bill Hrevnak, Richard Berardino, Katherine Rochford, Kelly Rochford and Kylie Rochford; two great-grandsons, Larry Lozito Jr. and Nicholas Lozito; and a daughter-in-law and her husband, Gloria and Rocky Tortorella.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with a funeral service at 8:30 p.m. at Laurel Funeral Home, 201 Laurel Ave., West Keansburg. Cremation will be in Monmouth Memorial Park Crematory, Tinton Falls.
