Edward William Berardino Sr. was born in New York City, Aug. 4, 1919, and passed away peacefully Sept. 28, 2009.
A World War II vet, he landed on Omaha Beach as a young platoon sergeant. He was married in 1945 and lived in Portland the rest of his life.
Ed's passion was fishing the Deschutes River in Maupin whenever he could and he told 60 years of 'fish tales' with little persuasion! He was also renowned in the Pacific Northwest sign community as a journeyman tube bender and eagerly passed the craft on to others. A man of few words and loved by many, Ed was happiest around family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Ed Jr.; daughter, Jeanne Berardino; and nieces and nephews.
He wished to thank those whose friendships meant the world to him. He will be greatly missed.
There will be a private burial at Logan Pleasant View Cemetery.
Date of interment-6 October 2009.
