Arnold Berg was the Coast Guard Academy (CGA; New London, Connecticut) tailor for 19 years when he left to retire in Florida in 1977. His loving wife Lore was the head seamstress in Arnold's tailor shop in the basement of Chase Hall where they fitted, tailored, etc thousands of Coast Guard officers and cadets over nearly two decades.

Arnold was honored by the Corps of Cadets who passed in review for him upon his
retirement in November 1977: "The legions of CGA alumni who have benefited from your kindness, courtesy, and excellent uniform service over the past 19 years salute you on the occasion of your retirement. You will long be remembered with affection and respect."

Arnold was born in Romania, and he moved from Connecticut to central Florida in 1977. He was Roman Catholic. He and his wife Lore were naturalized as United States citizens in 1965. Upon his retirement he received an Honorary Associate Membership in the Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association.
