Anita Rose Berkenpas, 92, of Le Mars, made her journey to God's heaven on Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Society-Le Mars, in Le Mars.

Anita Rose Klave was born April 23, 1918, the daughter of Fred and Rose (Schmid) Klave in Union Township, Plymouth County. She was the fourth of nine children. Anita was living at the Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars at the time of her death. She was lovingly cared for by their staff and was a friend to all the residents. They were family to her. Anita considered the care of Hospice of Siouxland as her visiting angels.

Anita outlived, in age, her parents and all of her brothers and sisters and their spouses, except for her only living sister, Joan Trometer, and her only living sister-in-law, Judy Klave. Other family members include several nieces and nephews and relatives on her late husband's side.

She joins in heaven her parents; husband Henry "Hank" Berkenpas who went to be home Feb. 6, 2006; four brothers and three sisters-in-law: Marvin (La Vina), Lawrence (Susan), Vernon, and Don (Julie); three sisters and brothers-in-law: Irene (Otto) Blackmore, Iona (Merlin) Blackmore, Bernice (Walt) Neff; and a brother-in-law George Trometer.

Funeral services took place Monday at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars. Pastor Marcia Young, A.i.M. of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars officiated. Burial followed at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars.
