Ruth "Tootie" Lee Bensman, 91, passed away peacefully in the early morning of January 31, 2007 at her Harmony of Sheboygan East residence. She was born December 29, 1915, in Green Bay to William and Anna Berman. As a graduate of East High School, Green Bay, Class of 1933, one of her special remembrances was playing bassoon in the band the day it was conducted by John Phillip Sousa. On June 22, 1941 Ruth married Israel Bensman. Mr. Bensman preceded her in death on August 27, 1964. She is survived by two sons and a daughter; Jim (Celia) Bensman of Cornelius, North Carolina, Kerry (Adrienne) Bensman of Lafayette, Colorado, and Amy (George) Lutz of Stanwood Washington; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Sadie Jerry of Green Bay; and other family members and friends who will miss her dearly. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by two sisters. Burial will take place at the Sheboygan Hebrew Cemetery.
