Dorothy Berman Alpert was born in New York City and for most of her life was a resident of the Bronx on Post Road from 1946 until her passing in February 2005. She was born the third surviving child of Ben and 'Bessie' [Batya Thomas] Berman. [Martha Berman 1919-1937] Dorothy's parents were immigrants of Lithuania [Ben] and Russia [Bessie]. Her sister and brother Nora & Alex Berman were fraternal twins. Dorothy married Dr. Samuel B. Alpert in 1943 and affectionately nicknamed him 'Mickey'. Dorothy was a proud New Yorker; politically aware; she was a voracious reader and though not college educated was intelligent and quick witted. She was survived by her son and two well loved nieces.
