Actor. He will be remembered for playing 'Philip Todd' in the supernaturally-themed serial "Dark Shadows" (1969) and as the villainous 'Alan Spaulding' in the soap opera "Guiding Light" (1977 to 1988). Born Herbert Augustine Bernau, his father was a physiotherapist, Christopher was enthralled with movies as a child and the prospect of growing up to become an actor. During his high school years, he acquired performance experience in plays and continued his training at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he received his degree in Drama. After moving to New York City during the early 1960s, he became a cast member of a Shakespeare Festival's production of "Anthony and Cleopatra" in 1962. This was followed by a role in a traveling production of Edward Albee's play "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"
