BESSIE LELA BERRINGER, 71, of Uniontown, Cherry Tree R.D. 2, wife of Bernie Rex Berringer Sr., died at the home of her daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Lemmon, Saturday, June 3, 1961, at 10:45 p.m. She was born October 24, 1889, in Green Township, Indiana County, daughter of William and Sena (Kessler) Stiffler. She had been a member of the Uniontown Church of Christ for approximately fifty years. Surviving are her husband, and these children: Mahlon Dewayne of Blairsville; Octa Adeline, wife of Maynard Lemmon, Cherry Tree R.D. 2; Bernie Jr. of Cherry Tree; William Lyle of Indiana; Hoyt Cletus of Cherry Tree; Maurice Lester of Scotland, Pa.; 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Gibbons, Long Beach, Cal. One son Walter Eugene preceded her in death. Friends will be received at the Jesse McCracken Jr. Funeral Home, Cherry Tree, until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, when the body will be removed to the Uniontown Church of Christ where friends may pay their respects until 2 p.m., the hour of the service. Brother Charles Cigrang will officiate and interment will follow in the Uniontown E.U.B. Cemetery.
