Barto Berringer, of the Third ward, died at his home on Wednesday last, of typhoid fever, aged 54 years. Some three weeks ago Mr. Berringer spent some time in Philadelphia with his wife, who was in one of the hospitals of that city, where she had gone for treatment for an intermal tumor. She has recovered from the operation and she accompanied her husband home. Shortly after his arrival he was taken down with the fever and the best medical attendance failed to give him relief, and he died from hemorrhage of the bowels. Mr. Berringer came to this place from Green township, were he was born, in 1884 and engaged in the mercantile business. In 1889 he sold out to his partner, Mr. Frank Douglass, and since that time he had not been engaged ina ctive business. He was a consistent member and active worker of the Baptist church and a man of the highest character. At the time of his death he was a member of the Town Council and the members attended his funeral in a body. He is survived by a wife, who mourns a most affectionate and loving husband. His living brothers and sisters are William, who resides at Elexandria, Iowa; John, at Burnside, Clearfield county; Thomas, Pittman and George, whose homes are near Uniontown (Berringer Post Office), this county; Keziah, wife of Robert Smail, of near Plumville, this county, and Mary, wife of Jacob Garman, of Uniontown, this county. The funeral took place on Friday and the services were conducted by the Rev. Furman.
