Mr. Betts was born in Norwalk, CT on February 25, 1941, son of the late Charles and Veral Bates Betts.
He was assistant superintendent of the Water Control Authority, City of Norwalk, for 15 years, retiring in 1976. He moved to New Milford from Norwalk in 1978.
Mr. Betts was a member of the Northwestern Connecticut Sportsmen Association and a past member of the Norwalk Boat Club and Eagles of Norwalk, CT.
In addition to his wife of 47 years, he is survived by two sons, Brian Betts of Watertown, CT and David E. Betts of Windham, N.H.; a daughter, Shari Betts Docktor of Brookfield, CT; a sister, June Lemelin and husband Lee of Brookfield, CT; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT, on Friday, October 3, 2008, from 5 to 8 P.M., with a Funeral Service at 7 P.M.
Burial will take place on Saturday, October 4, at 11 A.M. at the Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk, CT.
