Alice (Bianchi) Abraham, 88 of Danbury, wife of the late David (Debby) Abraham died on Wednesday evening, May 30th, 2012 surrounded by her family. Alice was born March 8, 1924 and grew up with four sisters and five brothers in Southington, Connecticut. She attended the Noble School in West Haven, worked in St. Raphael's Hospital and was a line manager in a defense factory during World War II. She moved to Danbury in 1943 and married David in 1946. She has been a parishioner of St. Ann's Church and a long-standing, active member of the St. Ann's Ladies Guild. Alice was an avid bowler, a devoted Yankees fan and was known for feeding those in need or anyone lucky enough to cross her path. She was nicknamed "Nanny" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved, cared and sung for them all. Alice is survived by her brother, Ret. Lt. Col. Emilio Bianchi of Salisbury, North Carolina; her sisters, Agatha Mangini of Wallingford, Connecticut and Florence Santillo of Lake Worth, Florida. She was pre-deceased by her sister Bernadette Bianchi of St. Petersburg, Florida; and brothers, Dominick Bianchi, Anthony Trotta, Julio Trotta and Frank Bianchi. Alice was loved by her daughters and son-in-laws: RoseMarie & Gene Davio of San Clemente, California; Carolyn & Richard Damici of Danbury, Connecticut; and Deborah & John Modzelewski, Jr. of Newtown, Connecticut. She was also proud of her eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and their families: Amy (Damici) & Vincent Fagnani; Tracy (Davio) & Tom, Alexandra and Lannea Hazzard; Michael Damici & Melissa Fenwick; Stephanie Davio & Ryan and Ashleigh Best; John Modzelewski III; David Modzelewski; Jared Modzelewski; and Allison Modzelewski. She was beloved by many nieces, nephews and life-long friends. Alice will always be remembered for her keen sense of humor, her generous spirit and loving heart. The Rite of Burial will take place on Tuesday, June 6, 2012 at 10 AM in St. Ann Melkite Catholic Church with Archimandrite Michael Skrocki officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Monday, June 5, 2012 from 5 PM to 8 PM. The Trisagion Prayer service will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday evening at 7:45 PM.
