Abel Bigelow, the son of Amariah Bigelow and Sarah Eveleth, was born on 27 January 1755 at Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. [Shrewsbury B/R] After marching on the alarm April 19, 1775 with Captain Andrews from Shrewsbury, 2d Precinct, to Cambridge, Able Biglo enlisted in Captain Beaman's Company on 6 June 1777. [Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors, Vol 2, pg 28]

He married Martha Bigelow, the daughter of Captain Joseph Bigelow Jr, in Holden in 1788 and built a home across the railroad tracks in West Boylston territory...He died in 1821 in West Boylston. [Boylston Historic Series] His widow died 10 September 1848 at West Boylston.[MA V/R]
