The remains of Walter J. Briggs (sic Biggs), formerly of Norfolk, son of Mrs. Lucy A. and the late Kader Briggs (sic Biggs), of this city, arrived here this morning over the Norfolk and Western Railway from Salem, Va., where he died Monday of la grippe, aged 55 years. The deceased leaves a widow and children, members of the family accompanying the remains here. The funeral took place at noon, from Epworth Church, and was conducted by the pastor, Rev. R.D. Smart, D.D. The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, the following being pall-bearers: Nathaniel Beaman, Col. H. Hodges, L. Clay Kilby, L.D. Starke, W.M. Jones and W.H. Spence. There was a handsome floral display.

The funeral of Mr. Walter J. Biggs, formerly of Norfolk, but who died Monday in Salem, Va., were he had resided for some time, took place at noon yesterday in Epworth Church. The service was conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Dr. R.D. Smart. The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, the following being pall-bearers: Nathaniel Beaman, Colonel H. Hodges, L. Clay Kilby, L.D. Starke, W.M. Jones and A. Spence. There was a handsome floral display.
