HOWARD BIGGS IS REPORTED KILLED ON ITALIAN FRONT
                                                       _______

     Fayetteville --- Mrs. Gladys Spangler, of Fayetteville, has
received word that her brother, Pvt. Howard R. Biggs, of
Terry, died of wounds received in action in Italy on February
20.
     The 19-year-old boy, step-son of Bill Harris, of Terry, en-
tered the army on April 22, 1943, and was assigned to over-
seas duty in October of that year, going first to North Africa
and then to Italy.
     The was department had notified members of his family by
telegram on April 10 that he had been killed in action. He
formerly worked for the Dunnedin Coal company and lived
at Terry with his aunt, Mrs. Sad Adkins.
     Besides his sister, there is one brother surviving, James
Biggs, of Lanark, and five half-brothers.

BIGGS, Private Howard R.: age 19, of Terry, was killed in
Italy, on February 20th, 1944, while serving with the U. S.
Army. The body will arrive in Beckley Wednesday, at 8:43
a.m., and will be taken to the home of his brother, James
Biggs, of Lanark, Wednesday at 3 p.m. Funeral services will
be conducted at the Stanaford Church of Christ, Thursday,
December 2nd, at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Roy Foster, offici-
ating. Burial will follow in the American Legion cemetery,
Beckley. The American Legion Post No. 32, of Beckley, will
have charge of the services at the grave side.
