Doris Hamman Bishop, of New Brunswick, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at home. She was 86 years old. Raised in Milltown and South Amboy, she lived her married life in Franklin Township and New Brunswick. After graduating from New Brunswick High School, she worked as a hairdresser at Calvo's Beauty Shop and then as a bank teller at South Amboy Trust Company. Mrs. Bishop was a devoted wife, mother,and homemaker throughout her 58-year marriage and involved in many activities at St. Peter's Church and schools in New Brunswick, as well as a member of the church's Altar Rosary Society.
She was predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Victoria Hamman; her husband of 58 years, Edward "Babe" Bishop; and a granddaughter, Megan Victoria Beck. She is survived by two daughters, Karen and her husband Geoffrey Beck of Westfield, and Nancy and her husband Carl Padovano of East Brunswick; a son, Thomas Bishop of East Brunswick; five granddaughters, Adrienne Berg, Lauren Nicolosi, Amy Padovano, Erin Beck, and Daniela Bishop; and three great-grandchildren, Ryan and Eva Berg, and Mia Elaine Nicolosi.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 17 from the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Peter's R.C. Church, New Brunswick. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick.
