Betty L. Bissell, 65, of Burlington died at 7:40 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, at Roseville Country Manor in Roseville, Ill.

Born Jan. 7, 1941, in Russell, she was the daughter of Earl H. and Vera V. Hull Cook. On June 7, 1959, she married George R. Bissell in Burlington.

Mrs. Bissell was a truck driver and a homemaker.

She was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the Great River Citizens Band Radio Club and formerly served as its treasurer. She was also a member of the Des Moines County Riding Club and had been its secretary for the last four to five years. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, genealogy, fishing, horse shows, watching the Weather Channel and the country.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Mark Bissell of Burlington; one daughter, Sarah Bissell of West Burlington; two sisters, Ruth Morris and Clara Osborn, both of Burlington; and nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel, with family meeting friends during that time.

The funeral for Mrs. Bissell will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Terry Vance officiating. Burial will be in Russell Cemetery at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

A memorial has been established.
