EAST HAVEN - A service will be held Friday for Emily Blackie Alling, 88, of 7 North Street, who died Tuesday at her home after a long illness. She was the widow of Harvey M. Alling.

Mrs. Alling was born in Toronto on March 18, 1900, daughter of the late James and Annie Gibson Blackie. She was a resident of New Haven for 25 years, Hamden for 15 years and moved to East Haven 30 years ago.

She was an Inspector for the former Winchester Repeating Arms Co. for 20 years before retirement in 1957. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, New Haven for 25 years, and was past president of the Auxiliary of the Veterans of World War I Barracks 2098 of Branford.

She leaves two daughters, Virginia Lemmon and Beatrice O'Connor, both of East Haven; four grandchildren grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Isabel Harris and Margaret Moss and two brothers, David Blackie and Alexander Moss.
