Elizabeth (Blackwood) Allen was born on October 29, 1776 in Hillsboro, Orange County, North Carolina, and she was the daughter of William Blackwood (1747–1830) and Margaretta (King) Blackwood (1755–1829).
She was married on December 27, 1794 in Orange County to George Allen Sr (1774-1847), the son of Abraham Allen Sr (1750–1825) and his wife Elizabeth (Kendrick) Allen (1750–1820).
Elizabeth was 62 years old and married when she passed away in November 1838 in Montgomery County, Tennessee and was buried in Allendale Cemetery, and although her grave is unmarked, her name and dates are included in a long memorial marker that included the names and dates of all seven known burials in this cemetery.
