KINGSTON, N.Y. — Helen Rose (Blanchard) Alecca, 81, of Boulevard Kingston, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Golden Hill Drive.

Born May 6, 1932, in Westport, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Ethel Walker and stepdaughter of the late Norman Blanchard, and graduated with the class of 1951 at Naugatuck High School. Helen was a solderer, employed by Canfield Supply and Lewis Engineering in Connecticut.

A Kingston City poll inspector for more than 30 years, Helen was a Cub Scout den mother for Troop 12, and volunteer mother for the Kingston Indian Drum and Bugle Corps. She enjoyed dancing and bingo.

Surviving is her husband, John J. Alecca Sr., with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage on Feb. 14; her children, Felice R. Alecca of Kingston, John J. Alecca Jr. of Pleasant Hill, Calif., and Kevin C. Alecca of Walnut Creek, Calif.; her brothers, Bruce Blanchard and his wife, Sam, and Leonard Walker of Naugatuck; and grandchildren Andrew and Leah Baxter. Helen's extended family includes Phillip Barber, Charles Murphy, Keith Peruso, Jennifer Binney, and many nieces and nephews. A brother, Ronald Blanchard, is deceased.

Funeral and cremation arrangements are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc., 27 Smith Ave. www.jvleahyfh.com Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Saint Mary's Church. Inurnment will be held in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
