Lester Fay Blaney, age 79, of Rowlesburg, WV, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at his home.

He was born in Masontown, WV on December 13, 1929, the son of the late Forney Issac and Sadie Florence ( Mayfield ) Blaney.

He served in the Marines during the Korean War. He worked as a truck driver and a coal miner for many years. He was Methodist by faith.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Edna Beryl Blaney, three sons, Garry Fay Blaney, of St. Mary’s, WV, Rickey Lee Blaney, of Terra Alta, WV, Ronald Allen Blaney, of Rowlesburg, WV; one daughter, Connie Sue Blaney, of Kingwood; 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Donald Ray Taylor, two brothers, Wilbert Clyde and Milred Earl Blaney, three sisters Wilda Mildred Wolfe, Elizabeth Taylor, and Alda Marie Strahin; and 3 infant siblings.

Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Thursday, April 2, 2009 from 4 - 9 pm. Services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, April 3, 2009 at the funeral home with the Pastor Neil Parsons officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Masontown, WV.

Military rites will be conducted by the Preston County VFW Honor Guard and the Preston County Chapter 977 Vietnam Veterans of America.
