Obituary - Marcelle Linford Blood, a long-time resident of Salt Lake City, died on May 14, 2003, three weeks after her 90th birthday, in Scottsdale, Arizona, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Edward L. (Ted) and Martha Blood.

Marcelle Blood was a native of Davis County, Utah, and was born in Centerville, Utah on April 24, 1913, to Edward Lorenzo Linford and Sarah Bertha Garn.

Marcelle was married in the Salt Lake Temple on March 14, 1935 to Howard L. Blood, who died in 1981.

Marcelle devoted her life to her family and was a loving mother and grandmother. While her family lived all over the country, they were always welcome at her home and knew there would be a full candy dish and meal waiting for their arrival.

We will miss our mother and grandmother.

Marcelle was graduated from Davis High School, where she served as Student Body Vice President. A gifted and avid athlete, Marcelle excelled in a number of sports, including tennis, diving, golf and bowling.

Marcelle was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and President of the Edgehill Camp, where she also served as a history instructor.

She also was a member of the University of Utah Mothers' Club and served for many years as Secretary of its Investment Committee. Marcelle joined the Wives' Auxiliary of the Ambassador Club, where her husband was a member, and actively supported the Club's benevolent activities, including serving as an officer of the Travelers' Aid Society.

Marcelle was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While she lived in the same home for over 50 years, Marcelle served in many capacities and held a number of offices in the Edgehill, Wasatch II and Colonial Hills II Wards, including President of her Ward's Primary, Young Women's MIA and Relief Society.

After her husband retired, they both served as ordinance workers in the Salt Lake Temple, and then following his death, Marcelle continued to work in the Temple and served as a shift supervisor for many years.

Marcelle is survived by two brothers, Don C. Linford of Boise, Idaho; and Seth James Linford of Salt Lake City.

She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Bertha Hyde, Sarah (Sallie) Ware and Zillah Butcher Alphin.

In addition to her son Ted of Scottsdale, she leaves three other children: Jean Williams (Bernie Dworski) of McLean, Virginia; John L. Blood (Carole), President of the California San Francisco LDS Mission and residing in San Mateo, California; and Steven L. Blood (Lauren) of Long Beach, California.

She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Marcelle's family will welcome visitors at a viewing on Friday, May 23, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, Salt Lake City.

The funeral will be held at 12:00 Noon at the Colonial Hills II Ward, which is located at 1455 South 1700 East in Salt Lake City.

Prior to the funeral, friends and family may also pay their respects at a viewing from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

Marcelle will be buried next to her beloved husband in the Kaysville, Utah Cemetery.
