JoAnne Balinkie (nee Blumenfield), 76, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away peacefully on Oct. 31 with her family by her side. She was born on Oct. 18, 1936 in Bridgeton. JoAnne was the only child of Jacob and Ida Blumenfield (nee Fisher). She graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1954 and attended Marjorie Webster Junior College. She married Joseph Balinkie in Atlantic City in Aug. of 1959. An avid golfer, JoAnne is best known for recording two holes in one, exactly one month apart, on the 15th hole at Cohanzick Country Club. She was also a Scrabble master, but JoAnne's greatest pleasure was spending time with her children, especially her granddaughter Sophia Josephine.
She is survived by her two daughters, one son and their spouses, Amanda and Dennis Wheeler, of Bradley Beach, NJ, LuAnne and Duane Hukill and Lindsey and Jonathan Balinkie both of Phoenix, AZ.
Friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Wednesday Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. at Beth Abraham Memorial Park in Deerfield Twp. with Rabbi Alfredo Winter of Congregation Beth Israel officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the FREITAG FUNERAL HOME, 137 W. Commerce Street in Bridgeton.
