Mrs. Bolivar was born in Hemp Hill, Texas on June 11, 1931 and passed away at her home on May 19, 2002.
She had lived on the Westside since she was five years old. She was raised and educated in Reward and graduated from Taft Union High School in 1948.
Mrs. Bolivar was an active member of the First Baptist Church, the American Baptist Women (ABW) and was a Sunday School Teacher at the Church for many years.
Mrs. Bolivar worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for Taft City Schools, Taft College, the family service station and Bolivar Electric.
She was an avid California Angels fan and followed the team since its inception.
Mrs. Bolivar's grandchildren were her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Bolivar in October of 1989; her sister, Grace Gorham; her grandson, Derek Bush and her great grandson, Garrett Johnson. Her survivors include her children and their spouses, her sister and brother-in-law, her 10 grandchildren, and her 11 great grandchildren.
Friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
