Elizabeth grew up in Waterford, where she met Paul Vincent Bongo at the age of four. They married in their early 20s and shared 56 more years. They had a wonderful marriage, and Paul cared for her in her last years as she struggled with Alzheimer's.
Betty is survived by her husband, Paul Bongo of Fort Pierce, Fla.; her daughter, Traci Bongo of Westfield, Mass., grandson, Kevin White and wife, Abear, and great-grandchildren, Henri and Max of Evanston, Ill.; her son, Christopher Bongo and wife, Karen, and grandsons, Christopher and Jonathan of Portland, Conn.; her brother, Ronald Chappell and his wife, Lorraine, of Groton, great friends who shared many good times together.
She was predeceased by her brother, David Chappell, and sister, Anita Ladden.
Betty is missed; she was loved in life, and she is loved in death.
There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church, 260 SW Prima Vista Blvd., Port St. Lucie, Fla. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2013, at Jordan Cemetery, Waterford.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 3333 Forest Hill Blvd., West Palm Beach, FL 33406 and/or Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian St., Stuart, FL 34997.
