In 1944, Naomi migrated to New York and completed her education in the New York City public school system, graduating in 1947. She majored in Home Economics. She met and married Robert Robertson and years later married Carl Howard. She was employed by GHI and retired after 36 years of labor. For over fifty years, Naomi resided at Betsy Ross Apartment Complex in Brooklyn, New York.
Later in life, she crossed paths with the late Richard Allen. They were joined in matrimony on December 18, 1999.
She accepted Christ at an early age, was baptized and joined the Salem Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Boyd. She moved her membership to Saint Paul Community Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Johnny Ray Youngblood. She later united with Wayside Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Joe L. Parker. On August 9, 2009, Naomi united with Bright Light Baptist Church under the leadership of her grand nephew, Reverend Akin O. Royall. While attending Bright Light, Naomi was a faithful member. She believed in the scripture II Timothy 2:15, "Study to show thyself approved unto God. A workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the Word of Truth." She was always the first student to arrive for Sunday School. She also served as chairperson of The Pastor Support Ministry from 2010-2012.
On Thursday, September 11, 2013, she crossed over into eternity and changed her residence from New York to New Jerusalem.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving andf devoted cousin, Ruth Hall (Herman)along with Henry, Ravi and David Hall of Elmsford and Brooklyn, NY. Other cousins include Brian, Dennis and Norma Hatot along with Kathleen and Randolph Driver all of Maryland. Her step-children, Jearline P. Hunter (James) of Hemptead, NY. Gloria Dean Lundy, Ricky L., Kenneth and Randy Allen all of Georgia. A devoted friend and confidant for over 70 years, Mrs. Elveta Greene-Hill, brother-in-law, Joseph Royall, her grand nephew and pastor, Rev. Akin O. Royall and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and friends of St Mark's Avenue.
